U+0295 was added in Unicode version 1.1 in 1993. It belongs to the block U+0250 para U+02AF IPA Extensions in the U+0000 para U+FFFF Basic Multilingual Plane.

This character is a Lowercase Letter and is mainly used in the Latin script. El carácter es también conocido como reversed glottal stop.

The glyph is not a composition. It has no designated width in East Asian texts. In bidirectional text it is written from left to right. When changing direction it is not mirrored. The word that U+0295 forms with similar adjacent characters prevents a line break inside it.

La fricativa faríngea sonora es un tipo de sonido consonántico, utilizado en algunas lenguas habladas. El símbolo en el Alfabeto Fonético Internacional que representa este sonido es [ʕ], y el equivalente X-SAMPA el símbolo es ?. Es común la confusión entre las epiglotales y las epiglotofaríngeas.

A pesar de estar colocada tradicionalmente en el grupo de las fricativas en el AFI, [ʕ] normalmente es una aproximante. El símbolo del AFI es ambiguo, aunque ninguna lengua hace distinción entre fricativas y aproximantes en este punto de articulación. La aproximante a veces se representa como [ʕ̞] o como [ɑ̯].
